About me

Nathalie Bertrams is an award-winning freelance photographer and journalist reporting from Africa and Eastern Europe. Her focus areas are global trade, biodiversity, environment and climate change. She publishes in international media such as Al Jazeera, The Guardian, BBC News, Süddeutsche Zeitung, De Groene Amsterdammer, NRC Handelsblad and Mongabay. She also makes documentary films for Arte/ZDF and Deutsche Welle. She is a 2018 and 2021 National Geographic Explorer. Nathalie was awarded the Lorenzo Natali Media Prize in 2016, the Recherchepreis Osteuropa in 2020, and shortlisted for the Fetisov Journalism Awards in 2022.
