About me

Giorgia is an Italian photographer - specialising in Creative Documentary and Visual Storytelling - based in London.Using photography as a therapeutic process and a personal research, her work can be interpreted as a circular practice. Raising internal questions stimulate her to examine the external environment - through researching, documenting and reading - Giorgia allows herself to address the original questions she has thus completing the process of consciousness and personal growth. In this two-way, relationship, Giorgia is keen to reveal the humanity, beauty, and vulnerability of labeled and stereotyped subjects, often objects of prejudice. Ultimately, with her practice, Giorgia aims to break down the indifference towards certain topics and give a voice to people that need recognition and often support.Besides her MA in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism at the University of Westminster; she has completed an Internship with Magnum Photos.Giorgia has been visiting as a Guest Tutor at Central Saint Martins and Westminster Kingsway College and collaborating with schools and associations.Presently she is an Educator for Special Needs, a Mentor at University of Westminster and London College of Communication (LCC), and she is working on a new long-term project about PMDD awareness.Giorgia has been featured by CNN.photos (http://cnnphotos.blogs.cnn.com/2014/02/20/living-life-on-re-pete/) and published in Source Photographic review. She was shortlisted in the Professional Category of the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards and in the competition 30 Under 30 of Magnum Photos.Giorgia has also been selected for the Nikon-NOOR Academy Workshop which took place in Manchester in 2017.
