About me

Claudia Leisinger is an award-winning portraits and documentary photographer, multimedia creator, videographer, and educator. Since completing her MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at the LCC in 2007 she has been working for newspapers and magazines (Wall Street Journal, Foreign Policy magazine, Buzz Feed, The Big Issue) charities (Red Cross, Mentor) institutions (BMW Foundation, Earth Security Group, Chatham House) think tanks (On Think Tank, The Hague Institute for Global Justice), commercial clients (Airbnb, R/GA, Keds, Hunter) and artists and galleries (Abe Odedina, Peter Leisinger, Luxembourg & Dayan, Max Hetzler).Throughout her photography practice she continually works on self-initiated long-term projects. Like in “The Last of the Billingsgate Fish Porters”, a multimedia piece on the corporate extinguishing of a centuries-old work trade in the City of London. (Published in the Guardian UK, selected for Night Contact, London’s first Multimedia Festival, and exhibited in a solo exhibition in Switzerland).Or “Europe Revisited” her recent work documenting six Serbian Roma families traditionally ostracized but taking part in a national (and E.U. membership-driven) initiative to improve their substandard housing. (Shortlisted and honorably mentioned in the Marilyn Stafford Foto Reportage Award 2018, exhibited in Marginal, a group exhibition in London).Two portraits, one from each story named above, were selected, and printed in Portrait of Humanity Vol 2. She has also been part of the inaugural nation-wide exhibition of Portrait of Britain with two of her portraits.“In Common” her latest series, an immersive exploration of London’s suburban common land, has just been published in 2022 as zine by Another Place Press as part of their Field Note series. She is also a founding member of Collective Eye, a grassroots / no host podcast promoting engaging conversations in photography & beyond.
