About me

Allie Crewe B.A.(Hons) is a Portrait Photographer whose work on challenging perceptions about gender construction and performance won her the 2019 BJP Portrait of Britain award. Allie finds a tender beauty in vulnerability and demonstrates this through her ongoing projects ‘I Am’ and ‘Letting Go’ which both explore themes of trauma and transformation in domestic violence. Through a research based approach, Allie prefers to immerse herself in work which focuses on working from the inside of marginalised groups. Working on both film and digital cameras, Allie's work is more of a collaboration between those photographed as she encourages them to write down their stories and make decisions on how they wish to be represented. Allie’s current work with SafeLives is Arts Council Funded and when she is not working on personal projects, Allie works on commercial assignments for companies and organisations such as the NHS, national charities and others.
